How can I add my GO Code as a link to a map of my address to my address in my e-mail signature?
To add an email signature in Outlook:

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Select “Tools – Options” from the menu bar
  3. Select “Mail Format” tab
  4. Set “Compose in this message format” to “HTML” using drop down selection box
  5. Press “Signatures” button at bottom of pop-up window
  6. In the “Create Signature” pop-up window, select New
  7. Enter a Name for the new signature and press next
  8. On the “Edit Signature” pop-up window, type in your name and address information. Enter your GO Code under your address and highlight this text.
  9. Using a right mouse click on the highlighted GO Code text, select “Edit Hyperlink”
  10. Enter http://www.gocode.ie/GOCODEVALUE?Tag=YOURNAMETOAPPEAR replacing GOCODEVALUE with the GO Code you want to map and YOURNAMETOAPPEAR with the name you would like to appear when the GO Code map is displayed.
  11. Press OK to close “Edit Hyperlink” pop-up window
  12. Press OK to close “Edit Signature” pop-up window
  13. Press OK to close “Edit Signature” pop-up window
  14. On “Mail Format” tab, set “Select signatures for account” to your email address
  15. Set “Signature for new messages” to the name for the signature you have just created and named in step 7 above.



How can I add my GO Code to my address on the contact us page of my website so that it acts as a link to a map of where I am?

If you copy and paste the following text into your website source code, you will be able to display a link on your website to a map of where you are:

replacing GOCODEVALUE with the GO Code you want to map, YOURNAMETOAPPEAR with the name you would like to appear when the GO Code map is displayed, and TEXTTOAPPEARINTHELINK with the text you want to appear in the link.

What's the best way of communicating my GO Code over the phone?

The phonetic alphabet is the most widely used spelling alphabet. The alphabet assigns code words to the letters of the English alphabet so that critical combinations of letters (and numbers) can be pronounced and understood by those who transmit and receive voice messages by radio or telephone regardless of their native language, especially when the safety of navigation or persons is essential. Try using the phonetic alphabet to remember your GO Code e.g.

To help with this, we've included a list of the phonetic alphabet codes for the numbers and letters used in the GO Code below.

Can I use GO Codes on a mobile phone?

We are currently trialing our new application for mobile phones - Go Code - with users. This will be available for download to every mobile user on the island of Ireland. The website may not work on all mobile phones - for example, Route Planning does not work at this time. Our new Go Code application will have this feature for most type of phones . A seperate application for the iPhone is also being developed.


When I search for a GO Code using my address, nothing is returned.

If you're having problems getting your address back from the search, please try the following:

  1. Check to make sure that you've entered your details correctly (e.g. selected the County).
  2. Just enter the first part of your street name in the search (e.g. Maple instead of Maple Avenue).

If you still cannot find your GO Code using the search, although we try to ensure that our data is up to date, your house may not be on the database, especially if it is a newly built home.

I've found my GO Code and looked at on it on the satellite map, but it's not on the right house.
